Labor Day Fire
Four of our DAT members responded to a garage fire on Labor Day afternoon. The Red Cross assisted a family of four who could not return to their home that evening due to some smoke damage and the electricity being shut off.

Weekend Rehab
The DAT team was called out on Saturday afternoon to provided rehab (beverages and snacks - especially water since it was so hot) to emergency workers who were working a scene on I-65.
The team was out there for several hours.

Saturday Fire
Four DAT members responded to a fire call Saturday evening out on State Road 43 off of 73E. Rehab/canteening was provided to approximately 30 emergency workers. The house fire was contained to the upper level.Read more

September is Preparedness Month

Many people in this country have experienced a significant crisis in their home or neighborhood, but less than half of the people surveyed by the American Red Cross have taken steps to be prepared for emergencies.

September 2010 is National Preparedness Month, a time set aside for the last seven years to encourage Americans to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities. The Red Cross urges everyone to take steps now to be ready when emergencies happen. Read more

Military Appreciation Day

Purdue University and Greater Lafayette area businesses are donating tickets for the football game on September 11: Purdue vs. Western Illinois. All active military and their family members are eligible to receive these tickets.

Tickets will be available at the Tippecanoe County Chapter of the American Red Cross through Thursday, September 9. A military ID must be presented to receive the tickets. Subject to availability.

Be Prepared For Severe Weather

A tornado is a violently rotating column of air extending fromthe base of a thunderstorm down to the ground. Tornado intensities are classified on the Fujita Scale with ratings between F0 (weakest) to F5 (strongest). They are capable of completely destroying wellmade structures, uprooting trees and hurling objects through the air like deadly missiles.
