CPR Instructor Training

Lay Responder CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Training

Learn to train students from the 2005 Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines in Adult, Infant and Child CPR, as well as the use of an Automated External Defibrillator and First Aid, You will review course materials and will learn presentation techniques, evaluation methods and procedures for preparing Red Cross Reports. Basic level knowledge and skills of CPR and First Aid will be tested during the pre-test. Water Instructor Safety Training

Purpose:
Instructor candidates will train to teach water safety, including the basic water rescue course, six levels of the Learn to Swim Program and Parent/Child Aquatics.

Prerequisites:
Must be at least 16 years of age by the last scheduled session of the instructor course. Successfully complete the precourse session.

Lifeguard Instructor Training

Purpose:
To train instructor candidates to teach basic-level Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Bloodborne Pathogens and Basic Water Rescue courses. Instructor candidates also will become familiar with GuardStart and the Water Safety Presentations.

Prerequisites:
Must be at least 17 years of age by the last scheduled session of the instructor course.
Successfully complete the precourse session.

Learning Objectives:
*Teach courses in a manner that helps participants stay engaged in the learning process.
*Demonstrate skills at an appropriate level of performance.
*Maintain complete and accurate records and reports.
*Plan, organize and conduct the courses and presentations in the Lifeguarding program.
*Monitor participants' practice and provide corrective feedback and encouragement consistend with the critical skill performance steps.

Length:
26 hours (including precourse session)

Certificate Issued:
Lifeguard Instructor Authorization valid for 2 calendar years
