Preparing Small Business Workplaces for Pandemic Flu
The Tippecanoe County Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a free , 45 minute presentation about how you can protect your employees from the possible upcoming pandemic flu. In addition, the chapter will provide small business employers and employees pandemic flu information to aid in business sustainability.
Purpose:
* Raise awareness about pandemic flu and provide information on what to expect during a pandemic
* Provide small business employers and employees pandemic flu information to aid in business sustainability.
Objectives:
* Discuss what to expect during a flu pandemic
* Identify the differences between seasonal flu and pandemic flu
* Describe how the influenza virus is spread
* Describe what steps can be taken to reduce the spread of flu in the workplace
* Determine what questions to ask about workplace policies, practices, and protocols related to the potential of a flu pandemic occurring
*Developing a Preparedness Plan for Yourself and Your Family
Design and Length:
The presentation is designed to be conducted in approximately 45 minutes- 1.5 hours. Times may vary based upon the following:
* Experience of the participants with the topic areas
* Customizing to fit your facilities’ needs
* Number of participants, and
* Experience of the facilitator and topic areas
The course will use DVD support , in addition to a variety of handouts, such as:
* Differences Between Seasonal and Pandemic Flu
* Classifying Employee Expose to Pandemic Flu
* Emergency Preparedness Checklist for Small Businesses
