National Nurses Week
National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
At the Red Cross, nurse volunteers practice to the full extent of their education and training. A nurse volunteer might provide direct services: responding to disasters, representing the Red Cross at health fairs, volunteering in military clinics and hospitals, promoting blood collections or staffing first aid stations. Red Cross nurses might teach and develop health and safety courses, function as managers and supervisors or serve in local and national governance roles.
We couldn't fulfill our mission without the dedicated support of local nurses who volunteer their time to help our clients and train our volunteers. Thank you to all local, national and international Red Cross nurses for all that you do.Read more

Fire Clients Gives Thanks
Marilyn Price was a Red Cross fire client in March 2010. Three members of the Disaster Action Team assisted her the night of the fire, and Marilyn had nothing but praise for them.
On August 16, Marilyn called the chapter to let us know she was back in her house after all these months. She wanted to give back to our chapter for the help she received, so we can help that next family affected by a disaster.
We went to visit her to pick up the donation, and she proudly showed us the repairs done to her home of 20+ yrs and presented us with a check. Read more

Safe and Well
After a disaster, letting your family and friends know that you are safe and well can bring your loved ones great peace of mind. This website is designed to help make that communication easier.
Register Yourself as “Safe and Well”
Search for Loved Ones
The Safe and Well Website is an Internet-based tool that allows those directly affected by a disaster to let their loved ones know of their well-being. People within a disaster affected area are able to select and post standard “safe and well” messages. Concerned family members who know the person’s current phone number (home, cell, or work) or a complete home address can search for the messages posted by those who self-register.Read more
