CPR Instructor Training
Lay Responder CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Training
Learn to train students from the 2010 Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines in Adult, Infant and Child CPR, as well as the use of an Automated External Defibrillator and First Aid, You will review course materials and will learn presentation techniques, evaluation methods and procedures for preparing Red Cross Reports. Basic level knowledge and skills of CPR and First Aid will be tested during the pre-test. It is strongly recommended that you review basic level knowledge and skills before taking this test.
PREREQUISITES:
Individuals must be at least 16 years old by the end of the instructor course.
Possess a current American Red Cross FA/CPR/AED certification(s) or the equivalent.
Have successfully completed the online Orientation to the FA/CPR/AED Instructor Course.
Have successfully completed the online orientation to the American Red Cross.
Have successfully completed the online FA/CPR/AED Instructor Precourse Test.
Have obtained all materials needed for both the instructor and participants before entering the first session of the instructor course.

Cost: $100.00
Includes: First Aid/CPR/AED Instructors Manual and Instructor Certification valid 24 months.
Length:
The online session that provides an outview of the instructor course and the FA/CPR/AED program is approximatley 1.5 hours.
The classroom session where the instructor candidates practice teaching and evaluating skill sis approximately 8 hours.

Certification Requirements
Successfully complete the prerequisite requirements.
Attend and actively particiapte in all course sessions.
Successfully complete class activities, including two practice-teaching assignments.
Score at least 80 percent on the instructor written exam.

Once you have completed training, you can decide if you would like to teach training classes at the chapter or in the workplace. If you choose to teach for the chapter, where regularly scheduled classes are held each month that you may choose from to teach. If training in your workplace, you will then be considered a third party, which the American Red Cross recognizes as an Authorized Provider. An Authorized Provider agreement must be signed by your employer and a price per person fee will apply, as well as rental fees if you chose to rent equipment from the chapter.
