Community Education Volunteer
Department: Education and Outreach
Responsibilities:
- Promote and conduct Scrubby Bear, Be Red Cross Ready, and other educational presentations in the community
- Evaluate presentations for effectiveness and applicability to group
- Report outcomes and number of attendees
- Answer questions about the Red Cross and refer the public to organization resources
- Pick up, transport, and return needed presentation tools, equipment and printed materials in a timely manner
- Distribute educational materials
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Interest in people and the ability to work well with volunteers and paid staff.
- Thorough knowledge of the Mission, Fundamental Principles, history and services of the American Red Cross.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Knowledge of, or the willingness to learn how to use, audiovisual equipment (PowerPoint, projectors, and computers)
Training:
- Orientation to the American Red Cross. (video or online modules)
- On the job training as necessary
- Be Red Cross Ready Presentation
Commitment:
- Community Education Presentations are on a "as requested" basis. Most presentations are during the day but some may be at night.
