CPR & First Aid Instructor
Department: Health & Safety Services
Purpose: To teach classes to the community in accordance with American Red Cross course regulations and use of American Red Cross educational aids (i.e. First Aid and CPR video, booklets and manikins).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and manage the course in a classroom setting.
- Ensure that students understand and can perform First Aid and CPR.
- Administer the certification test and document participants and course records.
Qualifications:
- Interest in people and the ability to work well with volunteers and paid staff.
- Knowledge of the Mission, Fundamental Principles, history and services of the American Red Cross.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide quality customer service and to demonstrate course components.
- Acquaintance with teaching techniques and tools provided by the Red Cross.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus.
Training:
- Orientation to the American Red Cross (video or online module).
- Fundamentals of Instructor Training
- First Aid and CPR Instructor Training
Commitment:
- Teach a minimum of one full course (8 hours) or one review course (4 hours) per month.
