Disaster Services Trainer
Department: Emergency Services Department
Purpose: To teach classes to the community in accordance with American Red Cross course regulations and use of American Red Cross educational aids (i.e. videos, booklets).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and manage the course in a classroom setting.
- Ensure that students understand American Red Cross Disaster Services protocols and procedures.
- Document participants on course records and administer certifications.
Qualifications:
- Interest in people and the ability to work well with volunteers and paid staff.
- Knowledge of the Mission, Fundamental Principles, history and services of the American Red Cross.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide quality customer service and to demonstrate course components.
- Overall mobility and ability to stoop, crouch, life (50 lbs) and push.
- Acquaintance with teaching techniques and tools provided by the Red Cross.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus.
Training:
- Orientation to the American Red Cross. (video or online modules)
- Fundamentals of Instructor Training
- Disaster Instructor Specialty Training
Commitment:
- The chapter would like to conduct at least 3 trainings per month. Instructors can participate by teaching all or one of the monthly courses.
